Dammit Jim! Im an Update Not a New Version!

If you are a beta user of the Windows Baby Beta you came across a nice (we hope) surprise (not that scary of one) today. A new update!

Every Wednesday, we will post a new update to our Windows Beta. The best thing about version 0.1.1 is you now longer have to uninstall the last version and reinstall the new one. (Yes, Tony told Windows who was boss, and amazingly, Windows listened.)

You must have version 0.0.9 for this to work! If you have version 0.0.7, you will have to uninstall it and download version 0.0.9 from here. (How do I know this? Well, because someone forgot to tell me and I had to figure it out for myself! CEO of this company, and I cant even get the right version of our apps…sheesh! :) )

What will you see? A notification that updates are being downloaded and applied. Walk through the steps, and BAM! version 0.1.1 will appear.

Whats new?

  • Auto Update
  • Version number across the top of the login window.
  • Remember Me check box enabled
  • Shout Box has been added
  • Users can now link to their Twitter account
  • Ability to upload an Avatar
  • Download indicators on titles in My Collection
  • Multiple downloads of titles now available
  • Download indicator in lower right hand corner
Bug Fixes:
So what about the Adobe AIR app? Well, Every Friday, we will post an update. This update we are focusing on improving the social features and bringing the Windows and AIR apps in line with each other, and we will post a more detailed update report here.
Also, we have submitted the iPhone/iPad app to the store, and hopefully, the iPhone app will be approved and in the store next week.
Um, what else? We have started on an Android App, which should be cool, and a couple other interesting features that are probably a bit more long term. We are developing specific features for creators that I am quite excited about. Hurm. Guess thats it for this update.
As always, please give us a ton of feedback. We are working with Get Satisfaction to make it a bit more seamless to get and use their site, so hopefully, you will see some improvements there as well.
And, of course, we are eternally grateful to how the community has stepped up and supported this effort. Hope we are rocking in the ways you hoped we would…

Why is it the need to download .NetFramework 4 ?, it is still in beta 2 phase.

It should be integrated into the installer. I believe its because its a Windows 7 app. If you want you can download the Adobe AIR app, which will run on windows, at least until the .NET Framework is out of beta...
